Darwin City Stay
Day 1. Arrive Darwin. Upon arrival you will be transferred to your hotel as chosen below. The remainder of the day is at leisure. Overnight Darwin.
Day 2. Afternoon Darwin City Sights Tour. The best and most comprehensive Darwin city tour available. Join a city sights tour this afternoon for the perfect introduction to Darwin, with expert commentary by an experienced and knowledgeable local guide. See the Chinese Temple and the lush Botanical Gardens. Tour the historic sites of the city including the East Point Military Precinct. See the Stokes Hill Wharf area and the Mooring Basin. There is also time available to explore the Museum and Art Gallery of the Northern Territory. (B)
Day 3. Kakadu National Park. Relax in comfort as we journey towards World Heritage listed Kakadu National Park. At our first stop you will receive a traditional Welcome to Country' from the local Limilngan-Wulna Aboriginaln people who operate the Pudakul Cultural Experience. Take a guided botanical interpretive walk to learn about bush-tucker, followed by activities including weaving, didgeridoo playing and spear throwing. We travel to Cooinda for a buffet lunch and then board a Yellow Water Billabong boat cruise. One third (approx.) of Australia's bird species are represented in Kakadu National Park, with at least 60 species found in the wetlands. Whistling ducks and Magpie Geese are the most abundant. From here we travel to Nourlangie, where, after a moderate walk, you will view impressive Aboriginal rock art which depicts Aboriginal mythology. Your guide will provide you with a deeper understanding of the Aboriginal culture and Dreamtime stories. We board our air-conditioned coach for the return journey to Darwin, arriving at approximately 8.00pm. (B, L)
Day 4. Litchfield and Jumping Crocodiles. We travel along the Arnhem Highway to the Adelaide River where we join the one hour Jumping Crocodiles boat cruise. Saltwater Crocodiles roam the waterways of Northern Australia and you will be amazed to see these massive reptiles propelling themselves out of the water for a tasty reward. Afterwards we travel via the township of Bachelor to Litchfield National Park where we spend the afternoon exploring. Florence Falls is a spectacular double waterfall set amid monsoon forest. The lookout here provides a panoramic view. Tolmer Falls cascades over two high escarpments into a distant, deep, plunge pool. The bottom of the Falls is home to several colonies of rare Ghost Bats and Orange Horseshoe Bats. Wangi Falls flows into a large swimming hole surrounded by lush monsoonal rainforest. Be sure to bring your bathers to cool off here! From a distance the huge termite mounds look like tombstones. Discover the difference between Cathedral (up to 6 metres high) and Magnetic Termite Mounds before relaxing in your air-conditioned coach on the return journey to Darwin, arriving approximately 6:30pm. Day 5. Darwin to your next stop. Today is at leisure until you are transferred to the airport for your onward flight. You may stay longer if you wish. (B)
