About Active Journeys - Company Profile

Vacations are fun! And so too is the planning of a vacation. Contemplating and planning your overseas vacation are the first exciting steps you take towards one of the best experiences and memories of your life, and we at Active Journeys sincerely appreciate the opportunity to assist in this process.

Who we are –

  • Active Journeys is a full service wholesale travel company located in Tacoma, WA (we also have an office in downtown Seattle, WA). We specialize solely in travel to Australia, New Zealand, Fiji, The Cook Islands, & Tahiti. Active Journeys was founded in 2006, as a subsidiary of our parent company Downunder Journeys – located in Great Falls, VA.
Our Services –
  • We provide all of our clients with a very high level of service. Our itineraries & packages are customized on a client by client basis, and can include airfares, accommodation, transportation, sightseeing, meals, events/performances, & more.

  • Fully accredited by the Airlines Reporting Corporation, member of the American Society of Travel Agents, member of the IATAN. Certified “Aussie Specialist” & “Kiwi Specialist”.

  • We provide outstanding service and attention to detail; before, during & after your vacation. Our services do not stop once you have departed on a trip. We provide emergency phone numbers for after hours support, and we have partner companies (with actual people you can contact) located in the countries we specialize in.
  • We have strategic partnerships (both in the U.S. and abroad) with some of the most recognized organizations specializing in travel to the South Pacific Region. We continually visit these destinations to inspect hotels, participate in sightseeing, meet suppliers, meet business partners, interact with local people, and discover new attractions. We do all of this to ensure that we know the most about this region in order to better serve you; our clients.

Where do you start, and how does the travel planning process work?
  Here is a general outline from start to finish:
  • You are deserving and ready to go on vacation, right?  Of course.  Maybe you know where you want to go, maybe you don't.  No worries!
  • You can call us, email us, or fill out a request form for information on the destinations we specialize in.  Contacting us does not commit you to booking with us, and our advice is free of charge!
  • You like what you hear, and are eager to receive a suggested itinerary and quote.   
  • We will gather information from you (dates of travel, number of people, your interests/expectations, budget, etc), and then put together an itinerary based on your personal preferences.
  • The suggested itinerary and quote will be emailed to you.  We encourage you to read it, scrutinize it, and then tell us what you think. Receiving this does not commit you to booking with us!
  • If you don't like some aspect of it, we'll change it!  Once you love it, we will ask for a deposit of $300 per person.  Quite a bit of work has been performed by this stage, therefore, the deposit is non-refundable.
  • Once your deposit is received we will contact the various vendors in your chosen destination(s), and book the services listed in the itinerary and quote.
  • Once the services are fully confirmed, we will email you an updated itinerary and remaining balance.  Your final balance will be due, in full, 60 days prior to departure.
  • No later than two weeks prior to departure we will mail your travel documents (detailed itinerary with all applicable information, travel vouchers for services booked, and other important information).
  • Finally...you set off across the Pacific! 
  • While we strive for your trip to go off without a hitch, things happen sometimes.  In the event that you need assistance during your trip we are here to help you.
  • Upon your return we will follow-up to find out how everything went.
